Kis your people
It is the final run to the finish line and everyone is struggling to deal with over doing and over thinking. Your people are, well, people, and they have a list as long as yours to achieve before December 24 (but without the personal assistant). So why not KIS your people this festive season – Keep It Simple with meaningful gifts.

Staff:
Cut them a bit of slack on deadlines for a win/win. Rather than watch them try to tick off their personal to-do list from the workplace, accept the situation and gift them a half-day to do as they please. So long as the deadline is met, they can take a break to Christmas shop, rest a hangover, prepare the Christmas lunch, see the school concert, or go to a day spa – whatever that person needs to get through this busy period. They will be grateful and, in the long run, more productive.
Clients:
It is time to shut up and listen. Every person who calls or walks through your door has a mind full of must-dos right now. Poor customer service at this time is more evident because everyone is a little less tolerant. So, a simple, genuine smile and a question to ask how the client is feeling will make them feel good and valued. If they vent a little, they will leave feeling lighter and you will be remembered for being that compassionate person (and business) that listened.
Suppliers:
Turn a request to a conversation. They too need to be acknowledged for the relentless hours and demands you have placed on them over the year. Stop and think about each one personally, and make a call to say thank you for being there this year. Feeling appreciated and valued is more meaningful than presents. If you do want to acknowledge any of your people with a Christmas present this year, make sure it’s purposeful – not some branded diary from the 1980s. Instead gift a moleskin diary with their name engraved, or everyone appreciates an extra ham or champagne over Christmas. Think about each person to be sure its something they will value.
With a simple KIS strategy, they’ll all be back for another year to support a prosperous 2021.
