What makes a great leader?
Most leaders come from an academic and professional background so focus their attention on “smart” business not healthy. You need to get that balance and add some emotional smarts to your daily list.
Four simple things you can do today to engage a person and help create a positive brand advocate:
1. Call a client and ask if everything is OK. Are you meeting their expectations? Have a good 10-minute chat and say thank you for being a client of yours. No strings attached.
2. Bring someone a coffee who is consistently early to work. Sit it on their desk with a note “the early bird catches the worm, thanks”
3. Send flowers home to a staff members home who is off sick today. “Hope you’re feeling better soon”
4. Call a staff member on the way home and say a genuine thank you for something you noticed this week. It could be the receptionist who did some baking and brought it in to share with others or someone who surprised a client. Just the fact that you noticed will add positive feelings.
These simple yet effective daily or weekly routines will equate to more engaged, loyal and trusting employees. It also drives healthy behaviours throughout the company. If you care, they will care.
Your clients will have a better experience, and that will encourage them to continue to do business with you. They will like your staff and what you and your company stands for.
Remember also, every person is linked to hundreds, if not thousands, of others on social media. What you do and say, gets shared. Positively or negatively.
